| By: Matthew Hester Columbus Lions Indoor Football Media Relations Director COLUMBUS, GA (September 24, 2012) – On Monday night, the Columbus Lions of the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) held a press conference to announce the signing of former All Bi-City performers in WR Earl Alexander and WR Jarmon Fortson for the 2013 season. WR Earl Alexander (6’4 207, Alabama) accounted for over 1,700 yards of offense and 17 touchdowns at Central High School during his senior season. He passed for over 1,200 yards, ten touchdowns, and added 500 yards while rushing for seven touchdowns. He was an honorable mention Class 6A All-State selection by the Alabama Sports Writers Association.Alexander earned a scholarship to the University of Alabama (2006-2010) where in 48 games he racked up 23 receptions for 303 yards and was a member of the 2009 National Championship team. A four-star prospect as a senior at Carver High, WR Jarmon Fortson (6’3 221, North Alabama) earned Class AAA All-State honors and recorded over 1,500 yards and 22 receiving touchdowns in his final seasons at Carver. As a senior, Fortson led the Tigers to the 2007 state championship game. Splitting time between Florida State University and the University North Alabama, Jarmon hauled in 85 receptions for 1,300 yards, and ten touchdowns. In 2009, he led the Seminoles with four touchdowns posting a career-high 45 receptions and 610 yards. The Columbus Lions are dedicating their 2013 season as "The Year of the Fan!
