Lions Add Veteran Center

by Jason Gibson

With the 2020 offseason rolling along, the Columbus Lions have stuck to their plan of adding to the quarterback position, and finding players to protect that position. The Lions have signed their second offensive lineman of the offseason with the addition of RJ Bibbs.
The veteran offensive lineman from Pleasant Grove, Alabama played college football at Miles College. Bibbs was the starting center at Miles and was named to the Division II/III All-American Bowl All-Star Game following the 2009 season.
Bibbs got his start in arena football with the Jacksonville Sharks of the AFL in 2013. During his time in the league, Bibbs bounced from team to team and spent time on the Sharks, the New Orleans Voodoo and Tampa Bay Storm. During his time on those teams, Bibbs provided a consistent presence on the offensive front and even had 33 rushing yards on 15 attempts and 3 touchdowns.
The 6-foot-2 325 pound offensive lineman could bring some welcomed experience to the Lions’ offensive line.
“As we prepare for the 2021 season, our goal is going to continue to be pass protection,” said Head Coach Jason Gibson. “RJ is a dominant veteran that will help anchor the OL.”
The Lions and Coach Gibson had a clear plan when the offseason began and so far they have been able to execute that plan with the addition of another talented offensive lineman.
