Antwane Grant earns NAL and Sprague's Supply Inc. Offensive Player of the Week awards

by Alex Husting

For the fourth time in nine weeks, a Columbus Lions player has been named NAL Offensive Player of the Week with Antwane Grant earning the award for his performance against the Albany Empire on July 24. Grant was also named the Sprague's Supply Inc. Offensive Player of the Week for his performance.

Grant finished the game with 13 receptions for 137 yards and five touchdowns, leading the Lions in receptions and five touchdowns. He came into the game with six touchdowns in the previous four games. This was Grant’s best game of the season and he has been steadily improving in each game since returning from an injury earlier in the season.

For the season, Grant has caught 36 passes for 373 and 10 touchdowns in five games. Since returning from injury Grant has been an integral part of the Lions passing attack and has fit right in with an already great Lions receiving group. The Lions are the only team in the NAL with three receivers over 300 yards and Desmond Reece is only 10 yards away from becoming the fourth.

Grant’s performance, as well as the entire game against the Empire can be watched here.

Grant and the Lions will be inside the Columbus Civic Center again this Saturday for the regular season finale against the Jersey Flight. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m EST on July 31 and tickets are on sale here. The game can be watched live with CTV Beam, at https://www.nationalarenaleague.com/home or on the NAL’s official Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSzSD8STXiEVPVtUDO9juhA
