COLUMBUS, GA – The Columbus Lions are preparing for their upcoming 2026 season in the American Arena League. This month, the Columbus Lions will announce a major change in team Ownership, a big moment in the franchise's long history. Today, the Columbus Lions front office confirmed that a new local business partner will take over as the Major Owner of the Columbus Lions franchise effective for the upcoming 2026 season. They are currently in the planning stages of a major public announcement.
The Columbus Lions currently have a number of owners including Richard Maslia and Kacee Smith. The current ownership group has navigated the modern Columbus Lions into the future and through multiple indoor/arena football leagues. They recently announced a major change earlier this offseason with the decision to leave the National Arena League for the American Arena League securing the Lions regional success in the Southeastern, United States.
Now in October the Ownership group plans to announce its second major announcement this offseason by revealing the team’s new majority owner, the identity of the owner and the future of the ownership group will be announced in the weeks to come.
