From The Desk Of Coach Gibson

by Jason Gibson

Lions Nation,

NAL MVP QB Mason Espinosa will not be playing for the Lions this season. Out of respect for his new job and per his request we have not made a formal release until today. After learning of his new position, the Lions organization and myself could not be happier for him and his new career path. Mason is a brilliant offensive mind and his success is unlimited. He has been committed to Columbus and this community for the last 5 years and given 100% on and off the field. We wish him the best in his new career path and he will always be a part of our family.

We also learned that K Craig Peterson would be leaving to pursue another opportunity closer to home. Again, after talking with Craig, this was the best choice for him. In Columbus we have tried to look after the best interest of the player and do whatever we can within our means on and off the field. It has been the family atmosphere here for the last 15 years and it will continue.

When one door closes, another one opens. I am excited to bring QB Darren Daniel back to the Lions. We have always been able to find and coach great QBs in Columbus (Joey Conrad, Chris McCoy, Randy Hippeard, Casey Katz, Mason Espinosa). Darren is hungry for this opportunity and he will find a way to win. I look forward to this season's ups and downs and the opportunity to continue our winning ways.

Thank you,

Jason Gibson
