Kewan Alfred earns the Air Force Reserve Defensive Player of the Week

by Alex Husting

Following a dominant defensive performance, Kewan Alfred has been named the Air Force Reserve Defensive Player of the Week. In a game where the Lions defense forced seven turnovers, Alfred had two forced turnovers.

The linebacker finished with three tackles, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble and fumble recovery and one interception. This gives Alfred two forced fumbles on the season and three fumble recoveries and his interception of Connor Kaegi was his first of the year.

The defense as a whole put on one of the best performances of the season with four sacks and seven turnovers while holding Jacksonville to just 35 points and 191 yards.

Alfred and the Lions will return to Columbus this Saturday and face the 5-1 Albany Empire in the battle for first place and home field advantage in the playoffs. It will be the best defense in the NAL versus the best offense in the NAL as Alfred and the rest of the Lions will try to slow down Tommy Grady and the Empire’s high-powered offense.
