Lions clinch home field advantage for the AIF Championship

Columbus, Ga. – The Columbus Lions announce that they are the hosts for the 2024 AIF Championship game on June 14. The Lions finished the regular season with a perfect 5-0 record and will be taking on the Corpus Christi Tritons.

The Tritons bolster a 4-1 record with one more AIF game to play. Their only loss came from the Amarillo Venom on May 11. The Venom forced four interceptions to upset the Tritons, 38-30. The Tritons play their final game this Sunday, June 2 and are looking to end their regular season with some momentum before traveling to the Lion’s Den.

The 2024 American Bowl Championship will be a battle until the very end. The Columbus Lions are looking to win the league for their second time, last winning the AIF in the 2016 season. The Tritons are looking to complete their inaugural season by winning their first trophy in the organization’s history.

Columbus has dominated every statistical category all year long. Quarterback Marcus Brooks leads the AIF in every single passing category. The Lions’ defense has been dominant as an entire unit but linebacker Marte’ sears leads the league with 35 tackles while defensive lineman Desmond Scott leads the league with 10 sacks in his rookie season.

The Tritons are led by quarterback Jeremy Hunt. Hunt is second in the AIF with 555 passing yards and 11 touchdowns. The dual-threat quarterback can get it done on the ground too. Hunt leads the league with seven rushing touchdowns.

Linebacker Quinton Williams and defensive lineman Chase Alisauckas headline the Tritons’ defense. Williams leads the team with 14 tackles while Alisauckas is close behind with 12. Alisauckas has been a force to reckon with in the trenches, recording a team-high 11 tackles for loss and three sacks.

Kick-off for the championship game is set for 7:00 P.M. EST at the Columbus Civic Center.
