Lions Dominate Miners Behind Strong Defense and Ground Game

The Columbus Lions overpowered the Wheeling Miners in a dominant performance Saturday night, fueled by standout efforts on both sides of the ball.

Running back Marco Lee led the offense with 17 carries for 86 yards and 2 touchdowns, controlling the tempo and keeping the Miners’ defense on its heels.

Defensively, Ben Smiley stole the show with 2 interceptions, including a pick-six, and 76 return yards. DeAndre Brown added 2 sacks, while James Gray and Ronald Malbrough each tallied 5 tackles, helping shut down Wheeling’s offense.

The Lions’ balanced attack and stifling defense proved too much, as they cruised to victory and continued their push toward the playoffs.
