Lions Sign Veteran Arena QB and former Oakland Raider Danny Southwick

by Tyler Boutwell

The Columbus Lions will look to improve their depth and provide much needed competition for quarterback Darren Daniel with the signing of experienced arena football veteran and former Oakland Raiders practice squad member Danny Southwick. Following Mason Espinosa's retirement, the Lions were left with only Daniel as a registered quarterback on the roster. Danny Southwick will fill that void. Southwick boasts a career 133 to 40 touchdown to interception ratio, as well as, 6,294 passing yards, and career quarterback rating of 94.45. Southwick is a pocket passer as evidenced by contrast with Daniel who has twice as many rushing touchdowns in the first two weeks as Southwick has in his 13-year professional career. Southwick is expected to be available for the Lions' trip tomorrow into the Shark Tank in Jacksonville, Florida at 7:00 pm.

2022 NAL Season tickets for the Lions are still on sale here.
